Custom Shop Position Rifles
The Custom Shop is pleased to announce our latest series of rifles: Custom Shop Position Rifles. These rifles are specifically built to deliver the highest level of accuracy and performance capable from our line of German match rifles.
Our primary focus is on the new 54.30 single-shot match rifle, utilizing our new shorter and more compact receiver. This new receiver is completely stripped here at the Custom Shop and meticulously rebuilt with a hand-selected custom stainless steel barrel and tight custom chamber. Carefully machined on our most precise equipment, the chambering process used for these rifles is identical to our highly coveted precision rimfire benchrest rifles. These stainless barrels are finished to 23.5" and a have a straight taper of 0.905", making this barrel slightly lighter and shorter than the factory barrel. At times we will finish a barrel up to 26", depending on the shooter's needs. When combined with the 12" sight extension tube, this moves the center of gravity closer to the shooter while allowing it to "hang" like a longer, heavy barrel. We have found this to be less fatiguing than the standard configuration.
Once the barrel is machined, the rifle is rebuilt and fitted with a sight extension tube and tuner. We readjust the trigger for an improved feel, as well as the bolt for improved ignition and ejection. From there the rifle is either epoxy bedded into a select grade walnut stock or fitted to a Precise chassis stock.
After completion, the rifle is tested carefully at the range, being fired as a complete rifle so the accuracy can be measured and tuner adjusted for optimal performance. Our goal is to test and tune the rifle in a fashion as close as possible to the final intended use of the rifle. We do not use machine rests or barrel clamping fixtures to test the rifle.
Once the rifle is complete, we add in a number of upgraded parts and accessories with the rifle. Sights are not included.
Note: Due to the variety of front sights on the market, we tune the barrel without a generic front sight. You will need to install your front sight and may need to make a slight adjustment to the tuner setting. We can help advise you on this process after purchase.
