Accuracy Testing Services
This service is created to allow customers to send in a rifle if they have questions or concerns about accuracy.
At our facility we have a 100 meter underground range featuring a climate-controlled environment and fully adjustable targeting and video system. When we test a sporting rifle, we shoot the complete rifle from a one-piece rest designed to hold the sporting style stock and protect the wood finish. We also believe that testing the Sporting rifle assembled, rather than just the barreled action, is the best assessment of the accuracy. With Sporters, they tend to shoot best when assembled.
For Position rifles with Precise stocks, we test the barreled action in a clamping fixture. The aluminum stocks are very difficult to shoot from a rest and tend to roll and twist.
All testing is conducted with one of our Nightforce BR optics and Kelbly rings directly mounted to the dovetail on the receiver. Through extensive testing and research, this combination has proven to be most consistent and reliable way to test a rifle. The Nightforce scopes are capable of focusing clearly and parallax-free at 50 meters.
The test ammunition we use is RWS R-50, and RWS Special Match. We select these two rounds due to their great performance, as well as they offer slightly different bullet styles which we have seen first hand some rifles having a distinct preference for. Thus testing both rounds is most beneficial for the customer.
Testing Fees
Price: $150 for testing two lots of RWS.
There is also a fee for return shipping, depending on the weight of the rifle and destination.

Accuracy Testing Tips
Here is a short list of the most common problems we see that cause a customer to send in their rifle, only to find the rifle is not the source of the problem.
Bad Optic Mount - The scope rings are not tight, uneven, or not seated firmly to the action.
Bad Optic - The scope does not track or does not have the travel for short-distance shooting with a rimfire.
Parallax / Focus Problem - The scope is not adjusted properly for 50 yard shooting and does not give a clear or consistent sight picture.
Action Screw Torque - Action screws are loose.
Poor Ammunition - Customer ammunition is of low quality or a bad lot.
