The new ANSCHÜTZ 8002 S2 Black Air Hunter is specially designed for the varmint hunters and target shooters who are looking for a quiet, accurate, urban-friendly, and versatile air rifle. Based on the 8002 S2 match rifle, the Black Air Hunter features some unique upgrades which are not offered from the factory in Germany.
The Black Air Hunter offers the precision of a match air rifle incorporated into a quiet, versatile, and unique hunting and sporting rifle. We chose to start with the lower power of a .177” caliber pellet at 580 fps to make it perfect on small pests as well as an ultra-precise training and target rifle in an urban environment. The rifle is much safer to shoot in urban settings when compared to high-power systems due to a limited range of the pellet and low down-range impact energy. With high-power air rifles, we found that the excessive velocity and power resulted in a much louder muzzle report as well as much more pronounced pellet impact on the target. Even with a moderator, high-power air rifles tend to attract much more attention in urban environments than the lower power PCP rifles. The Black Air Hunter is a perfectly suited rifle for those in urban settings. The unique moderator is made to control the sharp crack associated with Pre-charged pneumatics and also collects any lead dust created during shooting, thus making it safe to shoot indoors. Built with the intention of using a scope, the tremendous precision of the rifle challenges the shooter’s skill in many different aspects, allowing for realistic training and skill development when shooting outside in varying conditions and distances. |
Barrel & Moderator
The precision match barrel is fitted with a custom tuned moderator, made by Tactical Solutions here in the USA, and features a permanently attached K-Baffle designed aluminum core with titanium connector cap. This non-removable unit is smaller, lighter in weight, precisely machined, and considerably quieter than the counterparts from Europe. The moderator was adjusted for maximum performance and a virtually unlimited life span. There is no front sight provision for this rifle; a scope must be used for this system. |
Stock
The fully adjustable beech stock is coated in a moisture resistant rubberized coating which improves your shooting hold in cold or damp conditions, but maintains the feel of a solid wood stock. The aluminum accessory rail underneath the forend allowing for sling or bi-pod mounting. The cheek piece and butt plate offer a wide range of position options, and can also be upgraded or changed to suit the shooter’s preferences. Fitted with the Leupold scope in this image, the rifle weighs in just under 10 lbs. It is a stout rifle by any measure, with the balance and ergonomics of a World-Class 10 meter match rifle. |
Testing
Each rifle is tested and evaluated after the moderator is installed. Fired as a complete unit at 10 meters, mounted in the stock and fitted with a scope to ensure maximum accuracy prior to being delivered to the customer. Each rifle is assembled, tested with RWS R-10 pellets, comes with new 10-shot test target, and carries a full two-year warranty. As with any air rifle, pellet testing is critical for maximum accuracy. The pellet name and lot number are listed on each target. During testing, we found that pellet head sizes of 4.50mm and 4.51mm performed superbly. We will be uploading for videos of this new air rifle soon. Also, thanks to the ZP Team back at the factory in Germany for all of their help - they are the masters of all things air. |
